What is a panel trolley?

A panel trolley, also known as board trolleys, are designed for holding and moving large sheet materials like plywood, plasterboard, MDF, glass, windows, doors, and sheet metals from one location to another.

They are often used in workshops, warehouses, yards and building sites, to get the materials where they are needed quickly, efficiently and safely.

Panel Trolley Safety

Weight Capacity

Ensure that you choose a board & panel trolley with the weight capacity to complete the job. Never try to overload the trolley.
Load Distribution

Place the load evenly on the platform. If other items are stacked on the platform, ensure that heavier items are placed towards the bottom, with lighter items on top.

Load Security

Many board & panel trolleys feature anti-slip rubber surfaces to grip the load. For models that don’t, use straps or bungee cord to secure the load to the trolley. This will help to prevent the load from shifting or falling during transport.

Handling Techniques

Use correct handling techniques when loading the panel trolley. Maintain a straight back when lifting or unloading items, and grip firmly with both hands when moving the load. Use appropriate PPE such as toe capped boots, high-vis vest and rigger gloves. Take regular breaks to prevent fatigue and reduce the risk of injury.

Surroundings

Clear any obstacles or tripping hazards on your path before starting to move the board trolley. Take extra care when transporting loads on any mild inclines or uneven surfaces.
