Can you stand at the top of a platform step ladder?
Yes you can. The top rung of a platform stepladder is the platform itself. It is designed to be stood on in order to carry out work safely. With other kinds of steps where there is no platform, eg. a swingback step ladder, the top three rungs should not be stood on.
How many treads / rungs are there on a platform step ladder?
Platform steps are available in a wide range of sizes. The key point to note with a platform step ladder is that the platform IS included in the tread count of the ladder. Therefore a 5 tread platform stepladder has four treads with one platform at the top.
What is the difference between aluminium & fibreglass platform step ladders?
Aluminium step ladders are the most common type of platform steps – as they offer strength and rigidity with lightweight construction. They are ideal for a huge range of trade, industrial & domestic work. Fibreglass platform steps are non-conductive and therefore they are ideal for use by electricians and other trades working in areas where there are electrical hazards and a risk of electric shock.
